Avis Budget Group Europe is a leading global provider of vehicles rental services, with 6,500 employees and revenues in excess of €4.6bn revenues. Operating across 11 European countries, the organisation works within tight margins to maintain and develop its position in a highly competitive market.
Over the last five years, we have worked on a number of projects to help transform the business.
Avis planned to reduce operating costs and create more process consistency and efficiency across Europe through the introduction of two shared service centres.
Change Associates supported the transformation through each key step: establishing a plan, a benefits case and Key Performance Indicators, defining an operating model and organisational design, planning the transition and implementation.
We adopted a transparent and collaborative approach with the executive committee, board members, and key stakeholders across all 11 countries. This included working with HR teams to manage communications and negotiations with European Works Councils.
€2.5M value of benefits in the first 12 months and a further €5.5m realised in subsequent years.
We worked with Avis’ new acquisition, Zipcar, to redesign its HQ and field operations to support the growth of the business in North America.
A key element of this programme was process improvement within the customer services function.
The programme was so successful, our client extended its scope to include EMEA and ultimately to support the integration of Zipcar into the wider Avis Budget Group operations and processes.
We provided end-to-end support for Avis’ first ever global programme, transforming HR support.
This involved the introduction of HR shared services, supported by PeopleDoc, a global payroll system (ADP) and an overarching HR Information System (Workday).
We built the business case to secure the funding and agreement to the project, designed the HR operating model, designed and implemented the core processes for the shared service centre, and provided change management support throughout the programme.
The project was delivered on time, within budget and achieved the benefits described in the business case.
Over the last two years, we have been working with the EMEA business to increase their focus on innovation and increasing customer satisfaction while reducing operating costs.
The programme is still being delivered and is well on track to achieve €9m in savings.
